Paladin macros

Paladins often heal in the middle of a fight, so many of their macros cast on a friend without letting go of the enemy you're hitting. These are the ones that turn up most across 25 independent guides and forum threads, most used first, each written for Forever and checked against the beta spell list.

Words in angle brackets, like <Shield>, stand for the names of your own items.

Most used

Mouse-over heal or Cleanse

17 sources

You heal the friend under your cursor, else your friendly target, else yourself, without dropping your enemy target; the same shape suits Flash of Light, Cleanse, Purify, Blessing of Freedom and Blessing of Sacrifice.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Holy Light

2 other versions

Self only, keep target

#showtooltip
/cast [@player] Flash of Light

Explain line by line

Alt for self, enemy's target

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:alt,@player][@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@targettarget,help,nodead][@player] Cleanse

Explain line by line

Flash of Light comes at level 20, Blessing of Freedom at 18 and Cleanse at 42. Before 42, use Purify (level 8), which removes poison and disease but not magic.

Seal, then Judgement

12 sources

You Judge on a normal press and put your Seal up with Shift; tanks use Seal of Fury here and Ret uses Seal of Command.

#showtooltip
/startattack [nomod]
/cast [mod:shift] Seal of Righteousness; Judgement

Explain line by line

Another version

Crusader, then your seal

#showtooltip
/startattack
/castsequence reset=30 Seal of the Crusader, Judgement, Seal of Command

Explain line by line

Judgement doesn't use up your Seal in Forever, so the Classic judge-then-reseal button spends a global cooldown and mana on a Seal that's still up. Judgement doesn't start the global cooldown, and with Seal of Fury up it also taunts.

Hammer of Justice now

10 sources

You stop your own cast and stun the enemy under your cursor, or your target; the same shape suits Repentance and Turn Undead.

#showtooltip Hammer of Justice
/stopcasting
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Hammer of Justice

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Focus first

#showtooltip Hammer of Justice
/stopcasting
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Hammer of Justice

Explain line by line

Target only

#showtooltip Hammer of Justice
/stopcasting
/cast Hammer of Justice

Explain line by line

Hammer of Justice comes at level 8, with a 1-minute cooldown and a 10-yard range. Older versions use /script SpellStopCasting(), which the current client blocks; /stopcasting does the same job.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: /focus.

Blessing of Protection on a friend

10 sources

You put Blessing of Protection on the friend under your cursor or your friendly target, or on yourself with Alt; it never falls back to you by accident, so you can keep attacking.

#showtooltip Blessing of Protection
/cast [mod:alt,@player][@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead] Blessing of Protection

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Enemy's target

#showtooltip Blessing of Protection
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@targettarget,help,nodead] Blessing of Protection

Explain line by line

Else Divine Protection

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead] Blessing of Protection; Divine Protection

Explain line by line

Blessing of Protection comes at level 10, lasts 6 to 10 seconds depending on rank, and has a 5-minute cooldown. Like Divine Shield, Divine Protection and the new Templar's Bulwark, it applies Forbearance for 1 minute.

Divine Shield on and off

9 sources

You cast Divine Shield, and the next press cancels it, to clear a debuff and get back to hitting or holding threat.

#showtooltip Divine Shield
/cancelaura Divine Shield
/cast Divine Shield

3 other versions

#showtooltip Divine Protection
/cancelaura Divine Protection

Explain line by line

Tank Protection on yourself

#showtooltip Blessing of Protection
/cancelaura Blessing of Protection
/cast [@player] Blessing of Protection

Explain line by line

In Forever, Divine Shield halves the damage you deal while it's up. It comes at level 34 and applies Forbearance for 1 minute.

Holy Strike with auto-attack

9 sources

You start auto-attacking and Holy Strike in one press; the same shape suits Judgement, Consecration, Exorcism and your Seal.

#showtooltip
/startattack
/cast Holy Strike

Explain line by line

3 other versions

Hammer of Wrath on Shift

#showtooltip
/startattack
/cast [mod:shift] Hammer of Wrath; Holy Strike

Explain line by line

Righteous Fury on Shift

#showtooltip
/startattack [nomod]
/cast [mod:shift] Righteous Fury; Consecration

Explain line by line

Dismount first

#showtooltip
/dismount
/startattack
/cast Holy Strike

Explain line by line

Holy Strike is new in Forever. It comes at level 6, is instant and has a 10-second cooldown. Consecration comes at level 20 and Hammer of Wrath at 44.

Bubble, then Hearthstone

8 sources

You Divine Shield on the first press and use your Hearthstone on the next, so nothing can interrupt the cast.

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=10 Divine Shield, Hearthstone

Explain line by line

Another version

Two presses, no sequence

#showtooltip Divine Shield
/cast Divine Shield
/use Hearthstone

Explain line by line

Hearthstone has a 10-second cast. Divine Shield lasts 10 seconds at rank 1 (level 34) and 12 at rank 2 (level 50), so only rank 2 covers the whole cast.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: whether Hearthstone works inside Divine Shield.

Lower rank on Shift

Holy · 7 sources

You cast a cheaper rank with Shift held and your top rank otherwise, to save mana on small heals; Holy Light and Consecration work the same way.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Flash of Light(Rank 1); Flash of Light

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Fixed rank, mouse-over

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Holy Light(Rank 4)

Explain line by line

Three ranks

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:ctrl] Holy Light(Rank 4); [mod:shift] Holy Light(Rank 6); Holy Light

Explain line by line

Flash of Light has 6 ranks in Forever (levels 20 to 58), Holy Light 9 (levels 1 to 60) and Consecration 5 (levels 20 to 60). Some Classic versions put the ranks on two /cast lines, which casts the first line even with Shift held.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: pinning a rank, like Frostbolt(Rank 1).

Also common

Divine Favor heal

Holy · 5 sources

You pop Divine Favor and cast Holy Light on your mouse-over or target in one press for a sure crit; Flash of Light and Holy Shock work the same way.

#showtooltip
/cast Divine Favor
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Holy Light

Explain line by line

Divine Favor doesn't start the global cooldown, so it and the heal go out on one press. It's a Holy talent with a 2-minute cooldown.

Lay on Hands, no waiting

4 sources

You stop your cast and Lay on Hands the friend under your cursor, else your friendly target, else yourself.

#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Lay on Hands

Explain line by line

Another version

Self only

#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast [@player] Lay on Hands

Explain line by line

Lay on Hands has a 20-minute cooldown in Forever (an hour in Classic) and still drains all your mana.

Heal your target's target

4 sources

You heal your friendly target, or whoever your enemy is hitting, else yourself, so Ret and Prot can heal without letting go of the enemy.

#showtooltip
/cast [help,nodead][@targettarget,help,nodead][@player] Flash of Light

Explain line by line

Another version

Mouse-over first

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@targettarget,help,nodead][@player] Flash of Light

Explain line by line

Bubble, then bandage

4 sources

You Divine Shield, then bandage yourself on the next press while nothing can break the channel.

#showtooltip
/cast Divine Shield
/use [@player] Heavy Runecloth Bandage

Explain line by line

Another version

Divine Protection instead

#showtooltip
/cast Divine Protection
/use [@player] Heavy Wool Bandage

Explain line by line

Divine Shield starts the global cooldown, so the bandage may need a second press.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: using an item on yourself with [@player] and bandaging inside Divine Protection.

Blessing, Greater on Shift

4 sources

You Bless the friend under your cursor, your target or yourself, and hold Shift for the Greater Blessing on everyone of that class.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,help,nodead][mod:shift] Greater Blessing of Might; [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Blessing of Might

Explain line by line

Blessings of Might, Wisdom, Kings, Light and Salvation last 1 hour in Forever, and so do their Greater versions. Greater Blessing of Might comes at level 52, Wisdom at 54, and Kings, Light and Salvation at 60. Blessing of Sanctuary is gone.

Holy Shock, friend or foe

Holy · 3 sources

You Holy Shock the friend or enemy under your cursor, else your target, so it heals or hits whoever you're pointing at.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Holy Shock

Explain line by line

Holy Shock is a Holy talent in Forever, at level 30, with a 10-second cooldown. Light's Vigil, new at level 40, makes your next Holy Shock on that target skip its cooldown; on a friend, that Holy Shock also heals their whole party.

Mouse-over Redemption

3 sources

You resurrect the dead friend under your cursor, or your dead target.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,dead][help,dead] Redemption

Explain line by line

Another version

Announce in party

#showtooltip Redemption
/cast [help,dead] Redemption
/stopmacro [nohelp][nodead]
/p Resurrecting %t

Explain line by line

Redemption comes at level 12, has a 10-second cast and can't be used in combat.

#showtooltip
/equipslot [worn:Shields] 16 <Two-hander>
/equipslot [noworn:Shields] 16 <One-hander>
/equipslot [noworn:Shields] 17 <Shield>

Explain line by line

Seal of Fury, new in Forever, only gives its absorb shield while you have a shield on.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: weapon swaps in combat.

Target and attack

3 sources

You drop a dead or friendly target, pick the nearest enemy and start auto-attack; safe to spam.

#showtooltip
/cleartarget [dead][help]
/targetenemy [noexists]
/startattack [harm]
