Shaman macros

Shamans have more spells than keys, so most shaman macros put two or three of them on one key, picked by modifier or by target. These are the ones that turn up most across 21 independent guides and forum threads, most used first, each written for Forever and checked against the beta spell list.

Words in angle brackets, like <Shield>, stand for the names of your own items.

Most used

Earth Shock interrupt

13 sources

You stop your own cast and Earth Shock the enemy under your cursor, or your target, to interrupt it; rank 1 interrupts the same way for far less mana and is also the cheap threat pull for tanks.

#showtooltip Earth Shock
/stopcasting
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Earth Shock

Rank 1 threat pull

#showtooltip Earth Shock
/startattack
/cast Earth Shock(Rank 1)

Explain line by line

Target only

#showtooltip Earth Shock
/stopcasting
/cast Earth Shock

Explain line by line

Earth Shock has a 6-second cooldown and a 20-yard range, and locks the interrupted school for 2 seconds. Every rank interrupts and causes a high amount of threat, rank 1 included. Wind Shear, which newer versions use, isn't in Forever.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: pinning a rank, like Frostbolt(Rank 1) and /focus.

Ability with auto-attack

11 sources

You start auto-attacking and use the ability in one press, so your swings keep going even when you're out of mana; it suits Stormstrike, Flame Shock, Earth Shock and Frost Shock.

/startattack
/cast Stormstrike

Leave Ghost Wolf first

#showtooltip
/cancelaura Ghost Wolf
/startattack
/cast Flame Shock

Explain line by line

Mouse-over, no melee

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Flame Shock

Explain line by line

Stormstrike is an Enhancement talent at level 40, with an 8-second cooldown. Lava Burst, new in Forever, does 20% more damage to a target with your Flame Shock on it, so Flame Shock matters more than in Classic.

Mouse-over heal

Restoration · 10 sources

You heal the friend under your cursor, else your friendly target, else yourself, without dropping your enemy target; the same shape suits Lesser Healing Wave, Chain Heal and Riptide.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Healing Wave

Explain line by line

Alt heals you

#showtooltip

Explain line by line

Enemy's target next

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@targettarget,help,nodead][@player] Lesser Healing Wave

Explain line by line

Riptide is new in Forever. It comes at level 40, has a 6-second cooldown, and makes your Chain Heal on that target 25% stronger. Lesser Healing Wave comes at level 20 and Chain Heal at 40.

Mouse-over cure

9 sources

You cure a poison on the friend under your cursor, else your friendly target, else yourself; the same shape suits Cure Disease.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Cure Poison

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Shift for Cure Disease

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,help,nodead][mod:shift,help,nodead][mod:shift,@player] Cure Disease; [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Cure Poison

Explain line by line

Purge enemies too

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead] Cure Poison; [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Purge; [help,nodead][@player] Cure Poison

Explain line by line

Cure Poison comes at level 16 and Cure Disease at 22. Cleanse Spirit, which newer versions use, isn't in Forever.

Totems one per press

7 sources

You drop your totems one press at a time, earth, fire, then water, from a single key; it's the way to go before Call of the Elements at level 20, or when you'd rather have instant totems than its 3-second cast.

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=combat/6 Strength of Earth Totem, Searing Totem, Healing Stream Totem

Explain line by line

Another version

Air totem added

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=combat/6 Strength of Earth Totem, Searing Totem, Mana Spring Totem, Windfury Totem

Explain line by line

Call of the Elements is new in Forever and drops your whole Totem Bar set in one cast (see Totem bar on one key). Totems are instant, but each one starts the global cooldown, so this still takes one press per totem.

Instant Healing Wave

Restoration · 6 sources

You use Nature's Swiftness and cast Healing Wave in the same press, so the big heal lands at once; the same shape suits Chain Heal.

#showtooltip Healing Wave
/cast Nature's Swiftness
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Healing Wave

Explain line by line

2 other versions

On yourself

#showtooltip Healing Wave
/cast Nature's Swiftness
/cast [@player] Healing Wave

Explain line by line

Instant Chain Lightning

#showtooltip Chain Lightning
/cast [combat,harm] Nature's Swiftness
/cast Chain Lightning

Explain line by line

Nature's Swiftness is a Restoration talent at level 30. It doesn't start the global cooldown and has a 3-minute cooldown, so both lines go off on one press; while it's on cooldown the press casts a normal Healing Wave. Tidal Force, which some versions add, isn't in Forever.

Also common

Purge without retargeting

4 sources

You Purge a magic buff off the enemy under your cursor, or your target, without switching targets.

#showtooltip Purge
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Purge

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Focus first

#showtooltip Purge

Enemy's target for healers

#showtooltip Purge
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead][@targettarget,harm,nodead] Purge

Explain line by line

Purge comes at level 12 and removes one magic effect; rank 2, at level 32, removes two.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: /focus.

Burst cooldowns

Elemental · 4 sources

You use both trinkets, your racial and Nature's Swiftness, then an instant Chain Lightning; Trolls swap Blood Fury for Berserking.

#showtooltip Chain Lightning
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Blood Fury
/cast Nature's Swiftness

/cast Blood Fury
/cast Lava Burst

Explain line by line

Stormstrike opener

#showtooltip Stormstrike
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Blood Fury
/startattack
/cast Stormstrike

Explain line by line

Elemental Mastery isn't in Forever, so the Classic button that pairs it with Chain Lightning no longer works; Nature's Swiftness makes the Chain Lightning instant instead. Blood Fury raises spell power as well as attack power in Forever, and doesn't start the global cooldown. Lava Burst is a Fire spell, so Nature's Swiftness can't make it instant.

Two-hander and shield swap

4 sources

You switch between your two-hander and a one-hander with shield, depending on whether a shield is on.

#showtooltip
/equipslot [worn:Shields] 16 <Two-hander>
/equipslot [noworn:Shields] 16 <One-hander>
/equipslot [noworn:Shields] 17 <Shield>

Explain line by line

Imbues stay on the weapon you put them on, so the weapon you swap to needs its own.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: weapon swaps in combat.

Imbue a chosen hand

Enhancement · 4 sources

You imbue your main hand with a left-click and your off hand with a right-click, and accept the replace prompt; you only need it when dual wielding.

#showtooltip
/cast [@none,button:2] Flametongue Weapon; [@none] Windfury Weapon
/use [button:2] 17; 16
/click StaticPopup1Button1

Explain line by line

Another version

Two quick presses

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=5 Windfury Weapon, Flametongue Weapon
/castsequence reset=5 16, 17
/click StaticPopup1Button1

Explain line by line

Classic Era Shamans can't dual wield. On your main hand, Windfury Weapon turns off the Windfury Totem bonus for you.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: /click, whether Shamans can dual wield and the prompt to replace a poison or weapon imbue.

Lightning or Water Shield

4 sources

You put up Lightning Shield, or Water Shield with Shift, from one key.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Water Shield; Lightning Shield

Explain line by line

Another version

Water Shield in groups

#showtooltip
/cast [group, nomod][mod:shift] Water Shield; Lightning Shield

Explain line by line

Water Shield is new in Forever and comes at level 20 (Icy Veins lists it as a Restoration talent). Only one of the two shields can be up at a time. Earth Shield isn't in Forever.

Weapon imbue picker

4 sources

You put all your weapon imbues on one key and pick one with a modifier, Rockbiter with none.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Windfury Weapon; [mod:ctrl] Flametongue Weapon; [mod:alt] Frostbrand Weapon; Rockbiter Weapon

Explain line by line

Another version

Two imbues only

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Flametongue Weapon; Windfury Weapon

Explain line by line

Rockbiter Weapon comes at level 1, Flametongue at 10, Frostbrand at 20 and Windfury at 30.

Mount or Ghost Wolf

3 sources

You mount up outdoors out of combat and shift to Ghost Wolf in combat, indoors or with Alt, and the same key takes you out of either; swap Dire Wolf for your own mount.

#showtooltip
/cast [form][combat, nomounted][indoors][mod:alt] Ghost Wolf; [nomounted] Dire Wolf
/dismount

Explain line by line

Ghost Wolf comes at level 20, with a 3-second cast, and works outdoors only; two points in Improved Ghost Wolf make it instant and usable indoors (Icy Veins). Mounts are spells in Forever, so the macro uses /cast for yours.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: the numbers for forms and stances, casting a mount by name, /dismount and whether casting Ghost Wolf again leaves it.

Heal a friend, nuke an enemy

3 sources

You heal a friend under your cursor or your friendly target, and cast Lightning Bolt when your target is an enemy; below level 20 use Healing Wave in place of Lesser Healing Wave.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead] Lesser Healing Wave; [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Lightning Bolt; [help,nodead][@player] Lesser Healing Wave

Explain line by line

Another version

Resurrect out of combat

#showtooltip
/cast [help, dead, nocombat] Ancestral Spirit; [harm, nodead] Lightning Bolt; [help,nodead][@player] Healing Wave

Explain line by line

From rank 4 (level 20), Lightning Bolt has a 2.5-second cast in Forever, half a second faster than in Classic.

Shield, then imbue

3 sources

You refresh Lightning Shield on the first press and your weapon imbue on a quick second press; before level 30 use Rockbiter or Flametongue Weapon.

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=2 Lightning Shield, Windfury Weapon

Explain line by line

Windfury Weapon comes at level 30. On your main hand it turns off the Windfury Totem bonus for you.

Downranked heal

Restoration · 3 sources

You cast a lower, cheaper rank of Healing Wave on the friend under your cursor for small hits, and full rank with Shift; the same shape suits Lesser Healing Wave and Chain Heal.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,help,nodead][mod:shift,help,nodead][mod:shift,@player] Healing Wave; [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Healing Wave(Rank 4)

Explain line by line

Another version

Low rank only

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Healing Wave(Rank 4)

Explain line by line

Healing Wave has 10 ranks (levels 1 to 60), Lesser Healing Wave 6 (20 to 60) and Chain Heal 3 (levels 40, 46 and 54). Healing Wave rank 4 comes at level 18.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: pinning a rank, like Frostbolt(Rank 1).

Totem bar on one key

3 sources

You drop your Totem Bar set with Call of the Elements, your other two sets with Shift and Ctrl, and pick your totems back up with Alt.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Call of the Spirits; [mod:ctrl] Call of the Ancestors; [mod:alt] Totemic Recall; Call of the Elements

Explain line by line

Another version

Recall on Shift

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Totemic Recall; Call of the Elements

Explain line by line

All four spells are new in Forever. Call of the Elements (level 20), Call of the Ancestors (30) and Call of the Spirits (40) each put down up to 4 totems from your Totem Bar in one 3-second cast. Totemic Recall (level 20) removes your totems and gives back 25% of the mana they cost.

For particular jobs

Heal picker on modifiers

Restoration · 2 sources

You cast Healing Wave on the friend under your cursor, or Lesser Healing Wave when you hold any modifier.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod,@mouseover,help,nodead][mod,help,nodead][mod,@player] Lesser Healing Wave; [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Healing Wave

Explain line by line

Another version

Chain Heal on Alt

#showtooltip

Explain line by line

Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning

Elemental · 2 sources

You cast Lightning Bolt, or Chain Lightning with Shift, on the enemy under your cursor or your target.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,harm,nodead][mod:shift] Chain Lightning; [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Lightning Bolt

Explain line by line

Another version

Alt heals you

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:alt,@player] Healing Wave; [mod:shift] Chain Lightning; Lightning Bolt

Explain line by line

Chain Lightning comes at level 32, with a 6-second cooldown. Both spells cast half a second faster than in Classic: 2.5 seconds for Lightning Bolt from rank 4, 2 seconds for Chain Lightning.

New in Forever

Fire totem, then Fire Nova

1 source

You drop Magma Totem with Shift and set it off with Fire Nova on a normal press; before level 26 use Searing Totem.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Magma Totem; Fire Nova

Explain line by line

Fire Nova isn't a totem in Forever. It's an instant spell, from level 12 with a 10-second cooldown, that hits enemies within 10 yards of your active Fire totem, so the totem has to be down first. Classic buttons that drop Fire Nova Totem no longer apply.

Move totems to the cursor

1 source

You move your active totems to where your cursor points, without a targeting circle.

#showtooltip
/cast [@cursor] Totemic Projection

Explain line by line

Totemic Projection is new in Forever. It comes at level 22, has a 1-minute cooldown, and moves your active totems to a spot within 30 yards. In Classic it was only a Season of Discovery rune.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: casting at the cursor with [@cursor].
