Warlock macros

Most warlock macros are about the demon, putting its spells and orders on your own keys instead of the pet bar. These are the ones that turn up most across 22 independent guides and forum threads, most used first, each written for Forever and checked against the beta spell list.

Most used

Wand that stays on

7 sources

You start shooting your wand, and pressing it again doesn't stop it.

#showtooltip
/cast !Shoot

Explain line by line

Another version

Finds a target

#showtooltip
/cleartarget [dead][help]
/targetenemy [noexists]
/cast !Shoot

Explain line by line

Shoot is a toggle in Forever and doesn't start the global cooldown.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: whether pressing !Shoot again keeps the wand firing and the targeting commands.

Call the demon back

7 sources

You pull the demon back to you and set it to passive so it stops fighting, for example before you Fear its target.

/petfollow
/petpassive

Explain line by line

DoTs on one button

Affliction · 7 sources

Each press puts the next DoT on your target, and the sequence starts over on a new target or when combat ends.

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=target/combat Bane of Agony, Corruption, Immolate

Explain line by line

Another version

Leveling, with pet and wand

#showtooltip
/petattack [harm,nodead]
/castsequence reset=target Immolate, Bane of Agony, Corruption, !Shoot

Explain line by line

Curse of Agony is Bane of Agony in Forever. Banes don't count against the one-curse limit, so a curse such as Curse of the Elements can go in the same sequence.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: a cast sequence starting over on a new target and whether pressing !Shoot again keeps the wand firing.

Fel Domination summon

Demonology · 6 sources

In combat you use Fel Domination and start the summon on the same press, so it takes 5 seconds instead of 10; out of combat it just summons.

#showtooltip Summon Felhunter
/cast [combat] Fel Domination
/cast Summon Felhunter

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Pick demon by modifier

#showtooltip
/cast [combat] Fel Domination
/cast [mod:shift] Summon Voidwalker; [mod:ctrl] Summon Succubus; [mod:alt] Summon Felhunter; Summon Imp

Explain line by line

Sacrifice, then resummon

#showtooltip Sacrifice
/stopmacro [nocombat][nopet:Voidwalker]
/cast Sacrifice
/cast Fel Domination
/cast Summon Voidwalker

Explain line by line

Fel Domination is a level-20 Demonology talent in Forever, with a 5-minute cooldown. It doesn't start the global cooldown, so the summon begins on the same press, at half the mana cost.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: pet names in [pet:…].

Pet attack with opener

6 sources

You send the demon at your target and cast your opener in the same press; Shadow Bolt or Bane of Agony work just as well as Immolate.

#showtooltip
/petattack [harm,nodead]
/cast Immolate

Explain line by line

Demon spells

You can cast your demon's spells by name from your own macros, so you don't need the pet bar for them. A line only works while the right demon is out; with a different one, it does nothing. Range counts from the demon, and its casts don't use your global cooldown, so a demon spell and one of your own go off on one press.

Demon's main ability

9 sources

You use the main ability of whichever demon is out: Fire Shield for the Imp, Sacrifice for the Voidwalker, and Seduction or Spell Lock on the enemy under your cursor, else your target.

#showtooltip
/cast [pet:Imp] Fire Shield; [pet:Voidwalker] Sacrifice; [pet:Succubus,@mouseover,harm,nodead][pet:Succubus] Seduction; [pet:Felhunter,@mouseover,harm,nodead][pet:Felhunter] Spell Lock

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Shift for the special

/cast [pet:Imp,mod:shift] Fire Shield; [pet:Imp] Firebolt; [pet:Voidwalker,mod:shift] Sacrifice; [pet:Voidwalker] Torment; [pet:Succubus,mod:shift] Seduction; [pet:Succubus] Lash of Pain; [pet:Felhunter,mod:shift] Spell Lock; [pet:Felhunter] Devour Magic

Explain line by line

Second pet button

#showtooltip
/cast [pet:Felhunter] Devour Magic; [pet:Voidwalker, nocombat] Consume Shadows; [pet:Voidwalker] Suffering; [pet:Succubus] Soothing Kiss; [pet:Imp] Phase Shift

Explain line by line

Forever adds the Incubus as a fifth demon, with its own summon at level 20. Seduction comes at level 26 and Spell Lock at 36.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: pet names in [pet:…] and whether [pet:Succubus] matches the Incubus.

Devour Magic, smart target

8 sources

You have the Felhunter use Devour Magic on the unit under your cursor, else your target, else yourself, and Shift always picks you.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@player][@mouseover,exists,nodead][exists,nodead][@player] Devour Magic

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Right-click for yourself

#showtooltip
/cast [button:2,@player] Devour Magic; Devour Magic

Explain line by line

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:alt,@party1] Devour Magic; [mod:ctrl,@party2] Devour Magic; [@player] Devour Magic

Explain line by line

The Felhunter comes at level 30, and Devour Magic has an 8-second cooldown.

Spell Lock, focus first

6 sources

You have the Felhunter Spell Lock your focus, else the enemy under your cursor, else your target, without changing targets.

#showtooltip
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Spell Lock

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Mouse-over only

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Spell Lock

Explain line by line

Pet's target first

#showtooltip
/cast [@pettarget,harm,nodead][] Spell Lock

Explain line by line

Spell Lock comes at level 36, with a 30-second cooldown.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: /focus.

Seduction, mouse-over

4 sources

You have the Succubus Seduce the enemy under your cursor, else your target, so you can re-seduce while you fight something else.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Seduction

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Focus first

#showtooltip
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Seduction

Explain line by line

Set focus, re-seduce

#showtooltip
/clearfocus [mod:alt]
/focus [@focus,noexists][@focus,dead]
/petstay
/petfollow
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Seduction

Explain line by line

Seduction comes at level 26, has a 1.5-second cast and works only on Humanoids. Any damage breaks it.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: /focus and pet names in [pet:…].

Firebolt with your cast

Destruction · 3 sources

Your Imp casts Firebolt at its target each time you cast Shadow Bolt; Incinerate or Immolate work the same way.

#showtooltip Shadow Bolt
/cast [@pettarget,harm,nodead] Firebolt
/cast Shadow Bolt

Explain line by line

Firebolt has a 2-second cast. Incinerate comes at level 40.

Voidwalker on one button

3 sources

You summon the Voidwalker if it isn't out, have it Consume Shadows out of combat, and Sacrifice it for the shield in combat.

#showtooltip
/cast [nopet:Voidwalker] Summon Voidwalker; [nocombat] Consume Shadows; Sacrifice

Explain line by line

Sacrifice comes at level 16 and Consume Shadows at 18. Sacrifice's shield lasts 30 seconds, and while it holds, damage doesn't interrupt your casts.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: pet names in [pet:…].

Also common

Mouse-over Fear or DoT

5 sources

You Fear the enemy under your cursor, else your target, so you can deal with a second mob without losing your kill target; the same shape suits Bane of Agony, Corruption, Immolate, Siphon Life, curses, Death Coil and Subjugate Demon.

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Fear

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Focus first

#showtooltip
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Fear

Explain line by line

Stop casting first

#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Death Coil

Explain line by line

Enslave Demon is Subjugate Demon in Forever, and Curse of Agony is Bane of Agony. Banes and curses are separate, so one mob can carry Bane of Agony and a curse from you. Curse of Recklessness makes its target ignore Fear.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: /focus.

Pet attack, mouse-over

5 sources

You send the demon at the enemy under your cursor, else your target, without changing your own target.

/petattack [@mouseover,harm,nodead][]

Explain line by line

2 other versions

Ctrl calls it back

/petattack [@mouseover,harm,nodead,nomod][nomod]
/petfollow [mod:ctrl]
/petpassive [mod:ctrl]

Explain line by line

Attack or recall toggle

/petattack [@pettarget,noexists]
/petfollow [@pettarget,exists]

Explain line by line

Drain without restarting

Affliction · 5 sources

You start Drain Life only if you aren't already channeling it, so mashing the key doesn't restart the channel; Drain Soul and Drain Mana take the same guard.

#showtooltip
/cast [nochanneling:Drain Life] Drain Life

Explain line by line

Another version

Three drains by modifier

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:ctrl, nochanneling] Drain Mana; [mod:alt, nochanneling] Drain Life; [nomod, nochanneling] Drain Soul

Explain line by line

In Forever Drain Soul has a chance to give a Soul Shard while it damages a target, and always gives one on the kill.

Pet on enemy totems

5 sources

You target the Shaman totem that matters most (Tremor is last, so it wins) and send the demon at it; with no totem around, the pet goes for your current target.

/target Mana Tide Totem
/target Windfury Totem
/target Earthbind Totem
/target Grounding Totem
/target Tremor Totem
/petattack

Explain line by line

A totem's name doesn't work as a unit in [@…], so this uses /target, which changes your target to the totem. All five totems are in Forever.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: /focus and targeting an enemy totem by name.

Trinkets with Shadow Bolt

5 sources

You fire both on-use trinkets and cast Shadow Bolt in the same press.

#showtooltip Shadow Bolt
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Shadow Bolt

Explain line by line

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: a trinket and a spell on one press.

Drain Soul, cap shards

Affliction · 5 sources

You cast Drain Soul and, when you carry more than 10 Soul Shards, delete one so the shard slots never fill up.

#showtooltip
/cast Drain Soul
/run local C=C_Container if C_Item.GetItemCount(6265)>10 then for b=0,5 do for s=1,C.GetContainerNumSlots(b) do if C.GetContainerItemID(b,s)==6265 then C.PickupContainerItem(b,s) DeleteCursorItem() return end end end end

Explain line by line

Forever gives Soul Shards their own bag slot (Icy Veins), so Classic macros that clear the last slot of bag 4 miss them; this one looks through bags 0 to 5. Deleting an item needs /run, since no slash command does it.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: the Soul Shard bag.

Healthstone, Alt makes one

4 sources

You use your Healthstone, or make a new one while holding Alt.

#showtooltip
/use [mod:alt] Create Healthstone; Major Healthstone

Explain line by line

Another version

Whichever stone you carry

#showtooltip
/use Major Healthstone
/use Greater Healthstone
/use Healthstone
/use Lesser Healthstone
/use Minor Healthstone

Explain line by line

Healthstones keep their Classic names in Forever: Minor from level 10, Lesser from 22, then Healthstone, Greater and Major. Put the one you carry in the macro.

Soulstone a friend

4 sources

You put your Soulstone on the friend under your cursor, else a friendly target, else yourself, or make a new one while holding Alt.

#showtooltip
/use [mod:alt] Create Soulstone; [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Major Soulstone

Explain line by line

Soulstones keep their Classic names in Forever: Minor from level 18, Lesser from 30, then Soulstone, Greater and Major. Put the one you carry in the macro.

Summon with a call-out

4 sources

You start Ritual of Summoning on your target and tell the party who's coming so someone clicks the portal.

#showtooltip
/cast Ritual of Summoning
/p Summoning %t, please click the portal

Explain line by line

Ritual of Summoning comes at level 20 and needs you and two party members, all out of combat.

Any demon, one button

3 sources

You summon the Imp with no modifier, the Voidwalker with Shift, the Succubus with Ctrl, the Felhunter with Alt and the Incubus with Shift+Ctrl.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift, mod:ctrl] Summon Incubus; [mod:shift] Summon Voidwalker; [mod:ctrl] Summon Succubus; [mod:alt] Summon Felhunter; Summon Imp

Explain line by line

Summon Incubus is a separate spell in Forever, so there are five demons for the four usual modifier states, and Shift+Ctrl covers the fifth. The Succubus and Incubus come at level 20 and the Felhunter at 30.

Self-buffs in a row

3 sources

Each press puts the next buff on you (Demon Armor, Soul Link, Detect Invisibility, Unending Breath); Soul Link needs a demon out or the sequence stops there.

#showtooltip
/castsequence [@player] reset=5 Demon Armor, Soul Link, Detect Invisibility, Unending Breath

Explain line by line

Demon Armor comes at level 20; before that, use Demon Skin. Soul Link is a level-40 Demonology talent.

Heal the demon

3 sources

You channel Health Funnel into your demon if it's out and alive.

#showtooltip
/cast [@pet,exists,nodead] Health Funnel

Explain line by line

Another version

Voidwalker heals itself

#showtooltip
/cast [pet:Voidwalker,nocombat] Consume Shadows; [@pet,exists,nodead] Health Funnel

Explain line by line

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: pet names in [pet:…].

For particular jobs

Amplified Curse of Exhaustion

Affliction · 2 sources

You use Amplify Curse and cast Curse of Exhaustion on the same press for the stronger slow.

#showtooltip Curse of Exhaustion
/cast Amplify Curse
/cast Curse of Exhaustion

Explain line by line

Amplify Curse is a level-20 Affliction talent in Forever, with a 3-minute cooldown, and doesn't start the global cooldown. It makes your next Curse of Weakness or Bane of Agony 50% stronger, or Curse of Exhaustion 20% stronger. Curse of Exhaustion is a level-30 talent.

Banish and mark

2 sources

You Banish your target, tell the party, and mark it with the diamond so nobody breaks it.

#showtooltip
/cast Banish
/p Banishing %t
/tm 3

Explain line by line

Banish comes at level 28 and works only on Demons and Elementals, one at a time.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: raid target marks.

Warlock mount toggle

2 sources

You summon the Dreadsteed, or the Felsteed with Shift, or get off if you're already mounted.

#showtooltip
/cast [nomounted, mod:shift] Summon Felsteed; [nomounted] Summon Dreadsteed
/dismount

Explain line by line

Summon Felsteed comes at level 40 and Summon Dreadsteed at 60.

Not confirmed in the Forever beta yet: casting a mount by name.
